What's New in the SSC CGL 2026 Notification?

SSC has introduced a few game-changing updates in the 2026 notification that every applicant must understand to avoid disqualification or poor exam timing:

  • Strict Section-Wise Timings: Sectional timers are now active in both Tier 1 and Tier 2. In Tier 1, you will get exactly 15 minutes to complete each of the 4 sections. You cannot navigate between sections until the current 15 minutes expire!
  • Mandatory Live Webcam Photograph: Uploading pre-existing studio photographs is strictly banned. The SSC application portal now uses your webcam or a real-time smartphone QR link to capture a live photograph. Forms with scanned photograph uploads will be rejected.
  • Record High Vacancies: A massive pool of 12,256 vacancies has been declared—the highest in the last three years—across 40 key administrative and auditing ministries.
  • Assistant Audit Officer (AAO) Pattern Update: Paper 3 is introduced in Tier 2 for specialized audits, making the accounting and auditing evaluation more focused.
